Amman, Dec. 10 (Petra) – The Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO), a public shareholding company, signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday with ElementsX, a specialist in drone solutions, to deploy advanced drone technology for periodic inspection and monitoring of its electricity networks and facilities, enhancing operational efficiency and safety standards.

Under the agreement, ElementsX will provide EDCO with high-resolution aerial photography of company sites, continuous monitoring of long-distance distribution lines, and early detection of potential faults, malfunctions, and hazard points, EDCO General Manager Reem Hamdan said.

She added that the services will include advanced analytical reports based on thermal and visual data, enabling maintenance teams to make faster and more accurate decisions. The collaboration will also support the development of updated digital databases of network routes and components, streamlining monitoring and future planning.

The agreement forms part of EDCO’s ongoing efforts to modernize operations and leverage AI-powered drone technologies, which have demonstrated significant reductions in inspection time and costs, improved fault detection accuracy, and enhanced predictive maintenance capabilities. These systems can monitor indicators such as overheating, corrosion, and vegetation encroachment before they lead to faults or power outages.

Through this partnership, EDCO aims to strengthen network reliability, improve service quality for subscribers, and raise occupational safety standards by reducing reliance on manual inspections in challenging locations and replacing them with secure, digitally advanced monitoring solutions.
